Belgrade in Brief
Informel in Vojvodina: Jožef Ač, Pal Petrik, Bogdanka Poznanović
Belgrade Cultural Center, Art Gallery, from December 15th to January 20th.
The exhibition Critics Have Chosen in the Art Gallery of Cultural Centre of Belgrade, more than four decades has been held. Since 2001. in conceptual terms, this exhibition is modified into the exhibition of awarded laureats of author's "Lazar Trifunovic" award prestigious for the art criticism and critical writing on contemporary art scene organized by the Cultural Centre of Belgrade, since 1992.
Informel and art of materia in Vojvodina in the time of the occurrence is almost non-existent, as an organized artistic phenomenon. The evidence for this is that Ač and Poznanović, although they have lived and worked in Novi Sad, belong to different generations and artistic circles, while Petrik is separated from them while working in Subotica.
From the very names of most Ač's pictures in the spirit of informel it is notesed that he consciously retains certain themed features of images: the term "space" is a constant in all of these names, but not in the midst of the particular topographic but primarily metaphorical and symbolic understanding of the landscape. Petrik also, starts from the impression of nature and due to that, he is related to the concept of the "last naturalism." As the reason for his inspiring cause, he calls to experience of the flooded river Tisa around which on the cracked and dried soil remain ephemeral traces of the effects of this natural phenomenon. In the extensive multimedia range of Bogdanka Poznanović, her period of doing the art of informel, belongs to the initial and introductory spot. Her Informel in rare surviving small format paintings in a combined technical procedures, instead of the phenomena of nature, rather looks like a reminiscent of the ill and vulnerable, sometimes raw, then withered and dried organic tissues.
The exhibition is realized in cooperation with the Collections Trajkovic and Vujicic collection from Belgrade, Contemporary Gallery Zrenjanin, Modern Gallery "Art Encounters" from Subotica and the Museum of Contemporary Art from Novi Sad in Vojvodina, and will be presented, after Belgrade, also in these cities.
The exhibition will be open until January 15th 2012.
